Organic Lighting: Eco-Friendly Eangee Lamps Made of Leaves

EANGEE ORGANIC LIGHTING
We recently bought a butterfly tree lamp made by Eangee Home Design at a local art museum gift shop, and we couldn't be more delighted with our purchase.
Like all of Eangee's handcrafted lamps, ours is made of real leaves that have been colored with organic dyes and affixed to an all-natural base by artisans in the Philippines.
Although Eangee lighting isn't too too hard to find, you can't just buy it anywhere. Only retailers that meet Eangee's fair trade standards may sell the company's products.

HOW EANGEE LAMPS ARE MADE
Eangee artisans select, cut and dye leaves native to the Philippines. Then they meticulously arrange and layer them on natural frames or panels. These panels are then stitched into place.
Types of leaves used by Eangee craftspeople include alibangbang (butterfly tree) leaves, banyan leaves and cocoa leaves.
Other renewable materials contained in Eangee lamps include bamboo, abaca rope, nito vine, durian fruit fiber and found wood.
WHERE TO GET EANGEE LAMPS
Eangee only sells its products through retailers that provide a safe, quality work environment as well as just benefits and wages for their employees--standards Eangee itself adheres to in regard to its artisans.
If you can't find Eangee lamps near where you live, check out Amazon's selection. Amazon carries a wide range of Eangee table, floor and pendant lamps, as do the sellers below.

So much more interesting than my linen lamps!
The Dirt Farmer, What an engaging, intelligent, useful summary of leafy lamps! In particular, you do a great job of explaining how eangee lamps are made in the Philippines. It's especially interesting to know that the lamp makers care about where their products are marketed, that environmental and not just monetary standards rule.
Thank you for sharing, etc. (always = voted up + all),

Oh my! These are beautiful. And, I am glad to see they are using Durian fiber. I am glad it has another use besides grossing me out.:) thanks.
Nice job!
Very beautiful products, I have just been into the website through your link and happily discovered that the company adheres to fair trade and provides good conditions and wages for it's (artisan) employees. The lamps are amazing and on your recommendation I think I might just buy one also. Thank you.
